Fallon Laird started this petition to St. Charles school district and

Children do not readily acquire SARS-CoV-2 (very low risk), spread it to other children or teachers, or endanger parents or others at home. This is the settled science. In the rare cases where a child contracts Covid virus it is very unusual for the child to get severely ill or die. Masking can do positive harm to children – as it can to some adults. But the cost benefit analysis is entirely different for adults and children – particularly younger children. Whatever arguments there may be for consenting adults – children should not be required to wear masks to prevent the spread of Covid-19. We as parents need to stand up for our children! Masking our little ones faces should be a choice. I know personally my kindergartner comes home with a dirty, wet mask daily. His face is breaking out, and he is sweaty from having to wear a mask for 8 hours a day all day, even outside! My fourth grader chose to stay virtual as to not have to wear a mask. Kids need socialization and to not feel like a piece of cloth is the answer on whether or not their school year will be a successful one in class and /or with friends. My fourth grader is high functioning autistic and he has difficulty with this. We need to fight for all children! Its been 400 days, let them take the masks off and share smiles! Please help our children, our future children.
