Natalie Killough started this petition to St Bernards BoG

As some of you will already be aware, this years p1 intake was heavily oversubscribed which resulted in 13 children with siblings currently at St Bernards not gaining a place.  After a very distressing and highly stressful few weeks, 7 children have be offered places. This means two classes of 33 and 34 which is far from ideal. The parents of the remaining 6 children are still fighting hard to keep their family together. The thought of separating siblings is unthinkable. This would undoubtedly impact their social and emotional well-being, not to mention the logistical nightmare for parents having to be in two schools at the same time for drop offs/pickups, different school holidays, and potentially having to chose which child’s sports day to attend.

St Bernards is the only school in South Belfast where sibling isn’t the first criteria for admissions. We are lobbying the BoG to change the criteria so that siblings are prioritised. If you have children hoping to attend the school in the future, or you simply agree that families shouldn’t be separated we would be so grateful if you could sign this petition. We would like to prevent other families going though this heartache.
