St Anthony and St Paul started this petition to Pope Tawadros II and HE Metropolitan Tadros

To our dear shepherd His Holiness Pope Tawadrous II, Your Eminence Metropolitan Tadros and your Grace Bishop Daniel.

We the congregation of St Anthony's and St Paul's Church in Guildford, Sydney are very disappointed by the letter that was sent to our beloved Father Suriel Hanna on the 17th of January which was signed by Father Shenouda Mansour on behalf of all the church fathers.
Your Holiness this letter has become a huge stumbling block to the congregation and it saddens us to see the lack of peace and love between our church fathers to the point that Fr Suriel is threatened with legal actions to be taken against him if he goes ahead with completing the renovations of the English church adorning the house of God.

Up until recently, St Anthony's and St Paul's church was blessed with fathers who served in harmony and unity. Our dear Father Suriel and his family have been serving in our church for 40 years. In 2002, the St Anthony and St Paul's congregation voted for Fr Suriel Hanna and chose him to be their shepherd. We insist that we still choose Fr Suriel to be our priest and we completely disagree with any decision of moving him under any circumstances. Pope Shenouda III has said before that the congregation has the right to choose their shepherd and we choose Fr. Suriel Hanna. He plays a huge part in our lives and the lives of our children through his continuous, non partial love and dedication to serving the whole church. Any decision taken to remove Father Suriel from his church should be consulted with the congregation as we are the ones who chose him.

For many years we have looked forward to having a proper english church which looks and feels like the house of God. We request the completion of the renovation of the English church which is the church for our children and many generations to come based on the plans submitted to the Fathers and committee in May 2020 - which includes upgrade to the existing iconostasis and icons. Furthermore, the congregation will not accept the continuous attempts of trying to remove Father Suriel from St Anthony's and St Paul's church.

Our aim is to see the love, peace and unity come back to St Anthony's and St Paul's Church. Removing Father Suriel from our church will not restore the peace to the church. We plead with the church fathers to put aside any personal issues and to focus on the congregations needs which God has entrusted them with.
