An email was released from the school that explained that ONLY division 1 and 2 athletes will be able to take part in the National Signing Day, November 10th. This completely discredits the division 3 athletes who have equally sacrificed their time and energy when going through the same recruitment process. Although division 3 athletes are not presented with the NLI, neither are some d1 and d2 athletes who aren’t receiving NCAA scholarship money. Many of our division 3 athletes have been committed and have been waiting to be able to take part in the signing day, only to be told now that they have to wait until the spring when even more athletes will have committed. This day should be to celebrate ALL collegiate athletic commits and shouldn’t discriminate against the specific division. Other schools and years before Division 3 athletes have been included in the ceremony, except for this year. After all these athletes have gone through throughout their recruitment process and these crazy last few years, they deserve to be included. We need to stick to our motto as a school and include everyone, all athletes, in a ceremony that shines light on just how amazing our athletics are at Saratoga Springs High School.
