Dear Friends, 

It is our responsibility to bring the attention of the international bodies to support the people's movement happening in Sri Lanka, forcing the current misbehaving president and the government to resign from their positions.

This is also to get the attention of Ms.Michelle Bachelet United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights for the violation of the basic human rights of the Sri Lankan People.

Violence has been orchestrated by the government and misusing law against it's own general public. People had organized a peaceful protest on 3rd April 2022 and now, Island wide curfew has been imposed for no reason. Also the emergency law has been imposed on the entire island giving permission for the Sri Lanka police and Army to detain and arrest any citizen without any kind of legal procedures. Panic buying has been started with the sudden announcement of curfew and the entire country has been devastated due to the shortage in necessary supplies like food, LPG, fuel.

#GoHomeGota2022 hash tag was successfully promoted by the people and now, several mainstream social media channels have been blocked by the government to prevent intercommunications. Also, several journalists has been kidnapped and physically tortured at several police stations. Social media activists and innocent young people has been detained by both Sri Lanka police and government owned non-official groups.

Moreover, military armed vehicles are heading to the urban areas to control any public moment which is supposed to happen in next few days. Meanwhile the government has published another gazette prevailing all kinds of public gatherings in all the parts of the country. Many people who took part in peaceful protests were physically tortured by the Sri Lanka Police and army forces. (Video evidences can be provided)

This is clearly violating the human rights. We believe this petition would help us to bring the attention of international bodies and personals about the current situation of Sri Lanka.
