Debjani Dey, a female college teacher of Bhangor College, was allegedly attacked by Trinamool Congress leader Mr. Arabul Islam and other Trinamool workers over the college governing body elections.

The incident is the latest in a series of developments which have besmirched the school, college and university campuses in West Bengal.

Earlier, Trinamool workers had allegedly beaten up a college principal at Raiganj and ransacked the room of a headmaster in Jadavpur, while members of the students' wing of the CPI-M were said to have roughed up a college principal at Majdia.

We would like to attract your attention on such type of incidents carried out by TMC workers and others. We are worried with the fact and reality of continuous attacks on teachers of West Bengal.

So therefore we urge the Government of West Bengal:
1. To take action to stop further attacks on teachers in West Bengal.
2. To record the statements of the victims immediately and cases investigated;
3. To take immediate actions against the responsible individuals;
