Show the SPPS District that we need a cohesive COVID-19 Plan!
Why this petition matters

As the new variant of Covid 19, Omicron surges across the world, schools have been greatly affected. Throughout this time, multiple schools have gone back to online learning for at least 2 weeks. SPPS currently has no plans to do so. With the district's lack of planning, inability to provide bussing to all students, and lack of both teachers and substitutes, we call on SPPS to listen to their students and meet the following requests. Students feel uncomfortable in schools because of SPPS's failure to follow health guidelines and keep SPPS students & their families safe. SPPS currently has almost 2,000 positive covid cases, meaning this district alone has gained 1000 cases in the last week. We have created a list of requests we wish to be met by SPPS, and we hope for an environment in which SPPS will work with SPPS students, and honor our requests and concerns. We want to continue to learn, and we hope that SPPS will allow us to do so in a safe way for students and families.
Our Requests:
1. SPPS provides KN95 masks for staff and students
2. SPPS works to provides free PCR tests for staff and students
3. SPPS reaches out to staff, students & families for feedback about going online for a short period (like most school districts have) until Omicron is under control; eg, 2 weeks
4. As stated above, SPPS works to create an online learning/ hybrid learning option; is open to creating modified student schedules that best meet students needs and safely.
5. Protect the staff of SPPS by supporting the SPFE Union, and working with their requests.
