Why this petition matters

Hello to everyone that is reading my petition on behalf of myself and my immediate family. My name is Roselaine Avilma and my daughter name is Anthonique Forbes , we are from Nassau Bahamas but our background is of haitian descend . I have live most of my life in constant struggle such as discrimination , shanty homes with no running water, using outside toilet and also no electricity etc . Persons sees my country as this beautiful island but they don't get to see the struggle and the discrimination we get because of being from a haitian background , we do not get the same treatment or support like the bahamians . As a child growing up there were some terrible things that happened to me ..... I am ashame to disclose the horrible things I endure throughout my whole life and the pain never goes away, it's like a nightmare that hunts me for the rest of my life. I came to Canada January 16, 2015 along with my daughter who was 9 at that time but is now 16 , we applied for a refugee claimaint which got denied , then applied for H&C which is still in process up to this very day. I have worked in two major hospitals as a environmental aide, during the pandemic , I have worked earnestly in covid units ensuring the facilities was clean and sanitized , ensuring patient rooms was outbreak free, give them words of encouragement when their families couldn't come to see them . I went to work every single day during the covid19 pandemic because there were persons who refused to enter a covid unit but I myself and a few others others put ourselves in a pandemic we didn't know about or how it was going to affect us. It was during the pandemic of 2020 I met my husband carlos on a dating site, we started a mutual relationship which eventually turn into something more, our love for each other blossom like a flower each day . My husband proposed to me January 1st 2021 and then somewhere in May of that year my daughter and I got a removal order from Canada immigration, during this time of disappointment we still got married June 12, 2021, it was not because of my situation but rather we have created a bond with each other our love for each other have already flow to its capacity and our families and love ones is already blended . My daughter acknowledge carlos as her step dad, she's not afraid to open herself to him and we both know it is not easy to get a child to open to someone that is not their biological parent..... it can sometimes be a struggle . My husband carlos is a wonderful man and our family is completed . In August 2021 my husband applied for a spousal sponsorship for me and my daughter , everything was going accordingly until the Canada immigration in kingston jamaica have sent me a letter to attend a interview in Jamaica. I could not attend the interview because my passport is still withheld in Canada immigration from the time I came to Canada, I have no valid travel documents to attend this interview so therefore they send me a procedural fairness letter indicating why I didn't attend the interview in which my lawyer forward back to them a affidavit outlining the reasons why I didn't come for the interview. On September 9, 2022 they rejected our sponsorship because of genuineness and not being able to attend the interview. My family and I is disappointed and ìn disbelief of the decision Canada immigration made without giving us a fair chance to be heard or to answer their questions in which they needed clearance , I am asking the public to please help sign this petition on behalf of me and my family so that we can be together as a family, we have made wonderful friends , my daughter is in grade 11 and she have adapted so well with her pairs that her friends and teachers love her. We have accepted Canada as our home , a place we don't get discriminated but rather a place we can call home. Thank you for taking a time out of your busy schedule to read our story. GOD BLESS YOU ALL .
