Deena Hayes started this petition to Spokane Public School District Office

Amidst the new coronavirus outbreak in Spokane, I feel it would benefit our children to move to online schooling until this has passed.

We don’t know enough about this virus to know the true dangers yet. For healthy adults, most people will be fine, but our children are vulnerable! I don’t want to take the risk of my immune compromised son getting sick. Are you willing to take the risk?

I urge Spokane Public Schools to err on the side of caution.

Unfortunately with their current policies, this virus could get passed on very quickly. A person is contagious for up to 2 weeks before they show any symptoms. Once they show symptoms they continue to be contagious for another 2 weeks or more. The current policy states that you may return to school 3 days after your fever goes away, that would allow this virus to spread very rapidly among our vulnerable children. With those policies the school district has proven that they are taking this situation lightly and they are not looking out for the best interest of our children.

So I urge you to sign this petition to let the School district know that we don’t agree with their policy. We don’t think that they are taking this situation as seriously as they should.

Even if they don’t choose to close the schools down, this petition STILL shows them that we are concerned and think their policies won’t protect our children!
