The SAT is a test that has been stressing out teenagers for years! My goal is to change the SAT and formulated it so that it gets an actual assessment of your knowledge rather than a way to make money.  Wouldn't you rather be at home on a Saturday morning playing with your dog, rather than having your brain melt in a test room for 4 hours?

Most of the time the only way to get a score in the 80th percentile, at the least, you would need to be paying $64.50-$93.50 for registration.  To send the score to each school it's $12- $34. SAT prep classes typically cost $75-$1,000. They claim to be a non-profit, yet the president's salary was 1.3 million last year. The college board executives make $355,271 from their jobs, in a non-profit organization. I do not support the College Board making money by having trick questions that measure how well you can take a test, rather than what you have learned in school.

This test does not have a direct correlation with how well you will do in College. Most Colleges have already made this test-optional. The reason to change this is that the test statistically favors wealthy people, while minorities are repeatedly left with a score around the 55th percentile. We are spending so much money on a test that isn't necessarily showing how well we will succeed in college. Assemblyman Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento) is among those who think California’s universities should stop using these types of standardized tests for admissions. There are almost one thousand Colleges/Universities that are now test-optional.

The way to change this process to make it better for everyone, is to NOT curve in the test. For example, a student who missed five questions total- would have scored approximately 1580 on the old curve, yet only 1500 on the new one. Overall, scores have been deflated by around 60-100 points on average.

Your score should not be about how long you studied or how much you paid. It should be on what you have learned and what you need to review. The SAT test is not the best way to measure how well someone will achieve at college. It also stops students who are very intelligent and hardworking from applying.
