Why this petition matters

Started by Joni Stewart

As we all know, our community and politicians are well aware of the amount of speeders that fly up and down Drysdale road in Spryfield, Halifax NS.

Well yesterday a family friends dog got hit and killed there as the driver/speeder sped off without a care or ounce of respect for this poor animal. A respected youth had to watch his furbabie die on the road due to the lack or regard for the law and/or the people in the community. Which is unfair and disgusting.

Imagine if that was a kid chasing a ball or balloon.

Imagine if that was your kid or your dog... the pain and hurt and anger you would now feel.

Why do we always wait for the extreme pain to happen before we take action to help keep our kids safe.

I've created this petition to hope our local politicians step up and help us gain some control on this road. This is the road our kids take to get to high school, to get to the skate rink, to go play hockey, to take a hike down the Macintosh trails.

Something has to be done. This shouldn't of happened .

If the person was doing 30km or 40km even in this school zoned area like he should have been doing, the poor dog may still very well be alive. Now again, imagine that being a child chasing a ball not the dog.

It's time to take action and stop waiting for the bad things to happen.

Patty Cuttel is supposed to be be our help but she doesn't do much for Spryfield nor do the people here even know her whereas she tends to stick to her own. We've reached out and asked for help from her on numerous things now and never any results. We have also reached out to Brendan Maguire who has been hearing us, but we now need actions not just an ear.

We ask that you sign this petition and share share share so we can let it be known how seriously dangerous this road has gotten and that we need something done before the people take matters into their own hands.

No animal or family member should have to suffer this loss due to someone else's ignorance when it could of all been avoided with some simple speed bumps.
