Raise federal minimum age to purchase a rifle to match that of a handgun
This petition had 175 supporters
In the United States it is perfectly legal for an 18 year old to walk into a gun store and purchase a wide variety of rifles and an unlimited number of magazines and ammo.
A few things they can't do:
- Purchase a good micro-brew
- Gamble in a casino
- Rent a car
- Purchase a handgun
Not having rifles on that list is a major mistake.
We suggest the following:
- Change the minimum age to purchase a rifle to 21
- Keep possession age at 18 (can use your dad's rifle to go hunting)
- Muzzle loaders remain unregulated
Please make it happen.
