The member of Parliament of Bugangaizi East constituency in Kibaale district in Uganda, Hon. Onesimus Twinamatsiko made public statement okaying beating of women and even confessed that he slaps his wife and that this is okay.
Anti Domestic Violence Coalition (ADOVIC) condemns this statement and calls upon the speaker of Parliament of Uganda to summon this MP for first of all slapping his wife and also inciting violence against women.
Being a Honorable member of Parliament of Uganda, he is a legislator and therefore an icon of what he says.
Uganda Parliament passed a law against domestic violence in 2010(The domestic violence Act 2010) and we expect him to respect and adhere to the law.
The Member of Parliament's language clearly demonstrates that he is a perpetrator of GBV and must be punished.
Punishing this legislator will send a clear message to all men out there that domestic violence is a crime and punishable by law.
Otherwise if he is left without being punished, his message will be taken as a good one for the men and women out there.
Please sign and share this petition as a voice and support to ending violence against women not only in Uganda but world over.
