MPs are elected for making laws; not for breaking laws

Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad has been barred from flying as Air India staff were assaulted by the MP during his flight. Air India along with Federation of Indian Airlines (FIA, which comprises IndiGo, Jet, SpiceJet and GoAir) member airlines have decided to ban this MP from flying on all their flights with immediate effect. They have rightly demanded that exemplary action should be taken in such incidents to protect employee morale and public safety, as said by Ujjwal Dey of FIA in a joint AI-FIA statement.
The MPs are elected to make laws and not break them. If Mr. Gaikwad had any complaint against AI staff member, he could have used the proper channel of registering his grievance. But, he has no privilege as a MP to take law in his hand and assault a staff member or any one, any citizen.
The only exemplary action is the dismissal of Mr. Ravindra Gaikwad as a MP, by the appropriate authority, if he has committed this crime.
