We recently received news that Verizon Wireless is trying to install a cell tower on Summit Church’s property, which is very close to a residential area. Some homeowners in the neighborhood received notice of this case on 8-2-2020, and the hearing is on 8-6-20. To expedite the petition process, we have created this online petition in hopes of stopping the installation of this cell tower.

Verizon Wireless would rent space from the church to have this cell tower on their property, which is a great income stream for the church, but what about the homeowners and occupants in the nearby neighborhoods?  There are many concerns surrounding cell towers that are still under research and investigation. You will find multiple articles stating that cell towers do not cause any harm, but there’s also an alarming amount that state that there may be some dangers that come with cell towers. Some of the health concerns mentioned in these articles state the EMF’s can attack your immune system, lower your fertility count, attack your nervous system, or even cause ADHD or autism in children to name a few. Not all of these claims have been fully researched personally, but if there is even the slightest doubt that these cell towers can cause physical and mental health issues as well as potentially decrease the value of our homes, we should not be installing them in residential neighborhoods.

I personally have Verizon Wireless, my property line backs up to the church, and I have never had an issue with cell service in my area. Please, let’s stop the installation of these cell towers so close to our homes and our loved ones.

The notice we record also states that you can email your public comment or testimony to washoe311@washoecounty.us
