Southwestern Ontario is losing its regional transportation capacity at an alarming rate. Cutbacks in VIA Rail services, coupled with a lack of inter-city passenger transportation investments outside of the Greater Toronto Area have combined to severely restrict transportation options in Southwestern Ontario. This hurts Ontario families who need transportation for work, healthcare and education, and it limits the economic development of the region.

Working with area municipalities, businesses and other stakeholders, the Southwest Economic Alliance is launching an advocacy campaign to spur planning and re-investment in passenger transportation across the region.

We are calling on the provincial and federal governments to work together to plan and adequately fund a regional transportation network combining both public and private se ctor options.
