United Airlines holds a virtual monopoly on many of the routes into and out of Mexico. As a result, the company has increased fees and fares out of proportion to what would be reasonable given fuel prices and increased operating costs. United is fighting against Southwest's effort to expand Houston's Hobby Airport because it knows Southwest would be a serious competitor.

We are expatriates and their families living in and around Yucatan, Mexico. We are tired of United's stranglehold on air travel and the endless cost increases. We would strongly support Southwest adding a flight to Merida, Yucatan, to serve the large expat population in that area.
