Frankie Mills started this petition to Southwest Airlines and

According to Southwest Airlines, "In peak travel seasons, Southwest operates more than 4,000 weekday departures among a network of 101 destinations in the United States and 10 additional countries" After recently traveling out of the state, I boarded three separate Southwest flights with over 150 people and noticed that each passenger is offered complimentary pretzels and their choice of a non-alcoholic beverage on every flight. These beverages are always served in a plastic cup for the passenger to enjoy throughout their flight. Because each beverage is served in a plastic cup on every Southwest flight, thousands, if not millions of plastic cups are used for single waste plastic on Southwest flights.

Every time you or a family member flies with Southwest, you are served a beverage in a plastic cup which can quickly lead to an incredible waste of plastic, cause carbon emissions to increase which ultimately leads to the contribution of global warming that is slowly destroying our planet. And that is why I need your help today. I urge you to join me in asking Gary Kelly, CEO of Southwest Airlines, to take into account the undeniable damage the use of single use plastic has on our environment and to ban the use of single use plastic cups on each and every Southwest flights. If we don’t eliminate the extreme overuse and waste of plastic cups on these flights, Southwest Airlines and its unknowing passengers will continually contribute immensely to carbon emissions which in turn, contributes to global warming. We all want to live on this beautiful planet we call Earth for millions more years however, we must take action against global warming to prevent and stop the possibly permanent effects of climate change in order to provide a safe environment for ourselves, our families and friends.
