Surrey quays and Rotherithe are home to many beautiful parks and woodlands, with a large population of people and pets that reside here. However despite Southwark being a seemingly animal friendly environment, there is not a single enclosed dog park in the area. The people of Southwark desperately want this to change, as it will have a great impact of the lives of pets and owners. As a partially blind owner, and not the only disabled pet owner in southwark, the installation of a dog park will not only create a safe place for dogs but also act as an accessibility tool for owners who struggle to walk their pets. Most parks around the Rotherithe have a leash rule, even though this rule is very helpful and stops unwanted dog fights and unfortunate encounters. With a dog park these unfortunate problems may not occur as often or at all.
