Why this petition matters

Started by Jonathan Le

Lake Mead's water levels have significantly dropped over the years in the 2000s from being full to only 38% of the total storage capacity in 2017. This has been due to many factors, including climate change, water waste, and businesses using water in great amounts. Due to this, it has impacted Southern Nevada's communities by reducing the amount of water the average household in Southern Nevada uses from 314 gallons of water per day to 222 gallons of water per day over the years. In order to tackle this issue communities in Southern Nevada should practice reducing the amounts of water, they use to help preserve the water supply for future generations. Help us address this issue and make a change to our communities' water use by making a change to Assembly Bill 356 to encourage homeowners to make the switch from natural to artificial grass. This way we can reduce the amount of water waste from evaporation from watering grass and increase the amount of available water for everyone.
