The corporation, Southern California Edison (SCE), is concerned about the opening of Shaver Lake due to the pandemic of Covid-19. Let’s make it a community issue to uphold each-other accountable for who has this disease. Without this lake, many people not only from Fresno but also major surrounding cities, including many from Los Angeles will lack such a beautiful place to get away. Countless businesses rely on this lake for revenue, such as Camp Edison Camp Ground, surrounding restaurants, Shaver Lake Marina, Sierra Marina, Gold Arrow Camp, Boy Scouts of America, Private Residents of Shaver-lake Point, and Shaver Lake Water Sports. They all heavily rely on this lake to provide jobs for the community and families. Not only are people’s lively-hood at stake but also an outlet to escape from society to a beautiful lake. On top of the concerning economic issues, many visitors continue to go to the lake, walking from the roadside despite the closure; this has resulted in public deification and urination and heavily excessive garbage on the shorelines. Consequently this is resulting in the pollution of a beautiful lake. This is directly due to SCE not opening up the bathrooms and garbage containers around the lake. It is sad to see a private global corporation control an entire towns' livelihood, access to a beautiful part of nature and their basic freedoms. All other surrounding lakes and beaches have been open and remain open except Shaver Lake. We as a community and surrounding supporters will not stand for this abuse of power.
