We, the undersigned, request that the Southeast Local School Board include an auditorium in the plans for the new school. It has been suggested that the current auditorium in the middle school would be kept. That space is too small and has outlived it’s usefulness. Our choirs and bands have had to rent facilities or use local churches in order to have a space big enough for families to attend performances. By not having an auditorium built, students and staff will have to continue to transfer musical equipment and risers off-campus for every performance, causing wear and tear on the equipment and it can be dangerous.

An auditorium at the new school would provide an appropriate performance venue that would facilitate the teaching process and enhance the students’ learning experience. An auditorium could be used for events such as graduations, assemblies, plays and musicals, conferences, and rentals for other occasions. The music programs at the junior high and high school alone involve over 200 students! And now all the elementary students will be joining them in the new facility. Now is the time to build the auditorium our district needs. We urge you!
