Maintain opening hours and staffing levels in the Burgess Rd Library
Local libraries are essential for encouraging people of all ages and economic backgrounds to enjoy reading. As the price of books increases, they provide a vital source of material for those who cannot afford to buy every book/DVD/CD or audio book they wish to read/watch/listen to. The non-fiction sections of the libraries provide the whole community with a wide range of information for personal development, research and homework studies. The Burgess Rd library has a range of facilities for the local population, such as reading groups, toy libraries and computers / internet services, which are widely used, and it's situation, next to the University of Southampton campus provides the staff and students with a convenient location for book borrowing and returns, and a friendly environment for studying and exam revision. On Mondays and Fridays, the extended opening hours (until 7pm) provide access to people who are employed in 9-5 jobs, and who could not access the library if it only opened during reduced hours. The hours that the Burgess Rd Library is open these days are reduced as it is. Please do not reduce the opening hours any further!
