"Learning 2025" initiative is a Student-Centered, Equity-Focused Education is an AASA initiative that calls for holistic redesign of the public school system by 2025. The initiative is grounded in the foundational work of the AASA Learning 2025 National Commission, comprised of thought leaders in education, business, community and philanthropy. AASA says, "The time for action is now. Schools must operate as the heartbeat of the country we want and believe in—a country where freedom, justice, and opportunity are extended to everyone, without question, qualification or exception. The recent pandemic has given us an opportunity to finally reshape schools to meet ALL Whole Learner needs for maximized achievement. We’re calling on educators to seize this opportunity to realize the vision of holistic school redesign." 

Sounds good? Well, it's not. There are some good points in this report, but it is sugar coated to something deeper, that is scary and unless you fully pay attention, you will be blindsided for the door this initiative will open. This system, while having some good points, is rooted in gender identity and critical race theory. This initiative takes everything our education system has been built on over the past 125 years and squashes it, saying it's OUR past, outdated and NOT our learners' futures. The report is 28 pages long and explains how learners (our Kindergartners through 12th graders) are in charge of their futures and making their own decisions in their 13 years of education. This initiative will set the course for new curriculum to be developed, staffing changes, children to be allowed to make decisions that may not be in their developmental stage to do so and more! Our superintendent has applied for our district to be a "Demonstration District" for the next four years, which our board has approved the initial $14,000 fee. If you need further information as to some of the terminology this report gives, please feel free to web search "Critical Race Theory", "Holistic School Redesign". They seem good in theory, but when you really get into the knitty gritty, you'll realize these are not the answer to bring this nation back together or to help our children grow into adults who are truly confident in themselves. 

This is also NOT the answer for our district. It's actually quite shocking that our superintendent and board members deem this to be a good fit for our children's education, and ALSO for our staff/faculty. The board may tell us parents that they will only use certain components of this initiative, but this will open the door for our board to decide on what they want to use now and in the future. They can not expect to reach the "Non-Marginalization" for each "co-author" (our children), without implementing CRT and Identity learning into the curriculum - which "Non-Marginalization" is one of the things our board believes is key for our children.

Please sign this petition to be submitted to the SW School Board, stating we do not want this for our school. Let's make our voices heard and hope that the members WE VOTED IN will listen and do what we deem right for our children, their education and for our district by revoking our district as being a "DEMONSTRATION DISTRICT".
