Stop the closure of Whitburn Library

Whitburn Library is important to us all, but it is threatened with closure.
We use it to research, educate, socialise and recreate. It hosts valuable amenities such as computer and internet access, photocopying and printing. However South Tyneside Council intend to close it by the end of this year.
The library is also home to a statue of Lewis Carroll, author of 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'Alice Through the Looking Glass', both of which he wrote whilst visiting and working in Whitburn; closure of the library would remove this local landmark and memorial to this great author.
Please help to save this important community resource and landmark.
