It is a disgrace the number of small, local, museums which are being forced to close for lack of funding particularly when one considers the amount of money that governments through the years have spent on pieces of art which they claim to be "saving for the nation" which then end up being boxed up and stored away where "the nation" then have no opportunity to view them. The millions of pounds spent on these ""National Treasures" could be better used to fund local museums like "Bede's World" and others which "the nation" are able to visit and see.
Bede was one of the greatest Northumbrians known over the whole of europe without him we would have little knowledge of the dark ages . his effect on our world is still remarkable . we must reopen his world to spread the news of Bede
As an historical linguist and scholar of Old English, this museum is an important living historical document. Scholars and laypersons alike should have the opportunity to see history in its physical form!
