KEEP OUR S.P.A.C.E. KIDS TOGETHER

The S.P.A.C.E. program is a parent involved program at South Pines Elementary school in which teacher and parents worked together to promote an alternative classroom experience for our students. As part of the program our S.P.A.C.E. kids begin kindergarten and end 5th grade with the same classmates. This continuity promotes a safe, familiar environment for both students and parents. As you all know, Central Valley School District has chosen to decrease its classroom size to 17 students for grades k-3, beginning in the 2017-2018 school year. This is wonderful news for our program and for the district as a whole! Unfortunately, we have one classroom that will be negatively impacted by this change. Our current 2nd grade SPACE classroom has 21 active families in it. These kids have been together since kindergarten and we would like to keep it that way. Currently the district has told us that we will need to move 4 students from the classroom. We have created this petition to show them just how important it is, in our program, to keep these kids together. We want to fight for our kids and families. We are asking that, for just one year, in this one 3rd grade classroom, the district will allow 21 students. If money is the problem we are interested in negotiating. It is so important to us, as the S.P.A.C.E. Board, to stay true to the program in keeping these kids together. PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION and share it will your friends. We will be giving this petition as well as parent testimonials to the district soon. THANK YOU!
