In our school, there are many lgbtqia+ students amongst us. I was thinking that we create a pride club similar to that, where it would go on during lunchtime. Creating a safe place for all sexualities, genders, and allies. It is very important to us that we have a space where we aren't worried about being misgendered or hated on. 

Between 5 to 10% of lgbtqia+ youth commit suicide each year. This is a rate that is 1.5-3 times higher than youth who are not apart of the community. The suicide rate is affected by home life, school life, and online life. If school life for these people has a safe space for them to feel respected and a home, I am hoping this rate can decrease even a few percentages. 

This club could even be something more, it could be a place to educate people on genders, sexualities, pronouns, and various other things associated with the lgbtqia+ community. I have seen so much homophobia and transphobia within youth these days, and I truly think they just need to be educated. We aren't asking for money, we just need the signatures.
