Kainaat A. started this petition to SOUTH KOREA and

We are well aware that creating a petition may not do anything to change the situation. However, I and those who've signed this petition would like an apology from CUBE Entertainment for using Islam and parts of Islam as an aesthetic for their group G(IDLE)'s performance at the 2019 Golden Disk Awards. It is extremely disrespectful and one that paints South Korea in a negative light to all Muslims around the world. All 1.5 billion of them.

We understand the girl group G(IDLE) didn't have a significant part in the decision to use the Sheikh Zayed Mosque situated in the UAE as a backdrop in their performance. Our disappointment is solely towards their entertainment company, CUBE.

A mosque isn't just a building but a place of worship. Its value is sacred, therefore, downplaying it for musical performance is insulting. Many Muslims agree that music is forbidden in Islam and all Muslims know that dancing around a place of worship is blasphemous.

We're asking for an apology from CUBE entertainment if not for our wishes for our displeasure but for their lasting reputation. Those around the world that aren't familiar with the Korean pop industry may catch wind of this issue and view it as even more problematic than before. Using a Mosque as a prop will not anger the Muslims who watched the Golden Disk Awards but all Muslims who will hear about this. Ultimately, reflecting on South Korea's reputation. Nothing else can be done but a formal apology.

Thank you for listening and thank you even more if you signed the petition. It's not just, us, Muslims that are appalled but those who are familiar with Islam who understand the extremity of what has been done. My religion is not your aesthetic. This petition may go unnoticed but creating something official to show our disdain at this situation is being proactive and demonstrating that we won't be silent.
