My children are autistic. My youngest son, Rory (age 5) needs South Gloucestershire Council to authorise money from its special educational needs funding to pay for recommended therapies at his school, Blackhorse Primary School. South Gloucestershire Council agreed to give Blackhorse extra money in principle but has refused to respond to their actual application. Although South Gloucestershire Council also agreed to an EHC Plan for Rory, it has not yet started the proper consultation to finalise it. Rory is paying for his own provision because he needs it. Ultimately his choice is fight South Gloucestershire Council legally yet again (twice successfully so far) or leave school once he can no longer fund his therapies and have little chance in life.
