Northfield assisted living facility in Donaghadee, run by the South Eastern Trust faces once again  the prospect of closure. Saved before it can be saved again. 

This is a resource for both the community who may need it and also provides employment locally. 

The staff at Northfield are being redeployed to other facilities across the South Eastern Trust due to there being no clients in Northfiled. This is being manufactured by those in charge of these services. The unit has been now turned into a covid step down unit, yet has had little or no admissions during the 1st or 2nd time it had been redesiginated for this use. After the 1st time the unit started again for its original purpose and admissions were climbing, only to.be turned into a covid hub again, with NO use. 

We need to as a community fight this terrible move. We have heard often of the private sector care providers making huge profits, by closing a facility with the resource and staff run publicly will only add to more care being privatised. 

The South Eastern trust state this is a temporary move. There have been any temporary moves over the years, Bangor GP Ward, Downe ED, Belfast City ED... the list is endless. 

Time for the public to stand firm.
