South Dakota Against Prohibition is asking the State Legislature of South Dakota to de-criminalize marijuana by taking it off the illegal drug list so that medical patients can gain safe access. This would open a major economic boom in the state of South Dakota by allowing new businesses to start and flourish. Farmers would be able to grow hemp and medical grade cannabis. The tax structure should be based off of the examples set forth by the states of Colorado and Washington. Both states have felt the economy boom, happier citizens, healthier citizens, and a major drop in black market drug trade. Also with new industries including edible shops, dispensaries, glass blowing shops, glass art galleries etc, a major drop in unemployment cases. South Dakota would be able to easily get 70% of the population off of state programs like SNAP Benefits, effectively freeing up money needed to fund the overloaded social services programs statewide. I ask that anyone looking to brighten the future of the citizens of the Great State of South Dakota, please sign this petition and pass the word along.
