Elk were completley wiped out of the state of South Carolina hundreds of years ago. Tennesse, North Carolina, Kentucky, and most recently, Virginia, has successfully reintroduced elk to their state. All of the South Carolina upstate in the mountain area from Table Rock to Ceasers Head, to Lake Jocassee and the Jocassee Gorges is perfect habitat for these animals. Some of North Carolina's Elk heard has made it's way to some North Carolina towns that is minutes away from South Carolina, and even a report of an elk sighting at Ceasers Head that was unconfirmed. Lets bring these great creatures back to the upstate and fix what humans broke.
