Abortion Law
Abortion Law
Texas unfortunately just passed a law that if you get an abortion after 6 weeks (which most don’t even know if they are pregnant by that time), you can be sued criminally or civilly for getting that abortion. Also, anyone who helped you, including nurses, uber driver who drove you to the clinic, etc. could also be sued for supporting it. Within the last month, this law included all abortions, no matter if the pregnancy' was caused by rape. There has been push back by Texas’s Governor saying that maybe they could amend it so it wouldn’t count for rape cases, but that goes against law they already have in place. The big picture problem is that other states are now looking at Texas as an example to how their state should function when it comes to abortion. They are thinking of adapting these civil liability ideals when it comes to getting an abortion and are thinking “hey maybe we should do that too”. For my project, I’m trying to stop this process from being ongoing and spreading like wildfire across our country. There is no justice in this situation, and they are not putting appropriate due process into account.
I’m trying to stop this process from being ongoing and spreading like wildfire across our country. There is no justice in this situation, and they are not putting appropriate due process into account. My project is trying to challenge this way of going about abortion and not have it spread to South Carolina. We have to try and push against this conservative ideal. My campaign and resources for my project will target not trying to implement these laws in South Carolina. We want to try and put pressure on people who would vote for that law to oppress, and contact legislators and say “no don't do that and here is why”.
Please sign this petition if you agree that you want to prevent the spread of these types of abortion laws to the state of South Carolina and let legislature know that this type of law is not okay!
