SOSM town hall with leadership representation from Chicago Archdiocese and Fr. Nacius

Dear families of the School of St. Mary,

Hello! Thank you for taking a moment to read this petition.

Due to the many changes taking place within our school and church community, we are requesting a town hall meeting with our pastor, Fr. Michael Nacius, with leadership representation present from the Chicago Archdiocese. We are saddened that it has come to creating a petition. This request is simply a collective effort to encourage an open format meeting. There is no hidden agenda. We simply request the opportunity to discuss the exciting new changes, as well as concerns, together.

Many emails, letters, and phone calls have been made with requests for an open meeting to learn more about our school's new direction. A written response was published from Fr. through the school newsletter this week communicating our questions could be answered through a letter. Fr. Nacius has shared his concern that an unnecessary burden would be placed upon parents to meet in person. Although we are grateful for a response, the talking points Fr. Nacius provided in his letter do not fully address many concerns or allow for a deeper understanding regarding certain issues.

In order to allow enough time for families to make alternate decisions, if necessary, with regard to their children’s education, we respectfully request this meeting take place prior to May 1, 2017. Unfortunately it is difficult for some families to commit to next school year with the limited information we have at this time.

If you support the above request for a town hall meeting with Fr. Nacius and leadership from the Chicago Archdiocese, kindly sign this electronic petition. Again, this petition is simply asking for an open town hall with no other demands.

What happens once we have enough signatures? A copy will be delivered to Fr. Nacius and a second copy of this petition will be hand delivered to the Chicago Archdiocese. How many signatures do we need? Please ignore the default of 100 on the petition. We are encouraging as many as possible. The sooner we have the signatures, the sooner we can deliver our message. Ideally, we'd like to have the signatures collected and the petition delivered by the end of next week.

Also, complete apologies that this petition began to circulate before all info was included.

Thank you for your consideration.
