In the film Peter Rabbit, M.McGregor gets attack by the rabbit with his food allergy to berries. Shortly after his attack, the character has an anaphylactic shock that require an epinephrenie shot. This scene clearly promote bullying against a person suffering a food allergy. Food allergy can provoke a severe life treathning reaction and bullying someone with this illness can result on someone dying.
I am a mother of a 5 year old child that has multiple food allergies and has had at least 7 anaphylactic shock in his life. His illness has cause anxiety problem and low self esteem. In the last week, a child in his classroom has made an impulsive joke and put a cheese piece on his shirt. If like the film, he would have put that piece near his mouth, that situation would have result as an anaphylactic shock requiring multiple dose of epinepherine.
This scene in this film could cause distress upon a large community of children dealing with food allergies and promote bullying against person living with this disability. Creating harm and anxiety should not be what Sony pictures and Columbia pictures aiming in promoting the "family" movie of Peter Rabbit.
In a period of change where we promote respect and tolerance, this movie missed the mark. You agree sign the petition.
