The new Evil Dead remake is one of the most anticipated movies of 2013 and has generated great buzz among general audiences and mainstream critics. This is proven by the fact that it is currently #1 at the US Box Office. By not giving it a wide release here in Australia, Sony Pictures Australia will be losing themselves a lot of money while also barring Australian moviegoers from seeing a movie they have waited so long for. Plus it will only help to encourage illegal downloading. I would hate to see that happen as I wish for the movie to be as big of a commercial success as possible so that those involved in it's production can be rewarded for their efforts in making what I'm sure will be a great experience. The fact that we haven't been given a reason for the very limited release (it will be released in 3 theaters in the whole country!) serves to only make this problem even more annoying. Is it the R rating? Haven't we come far enough in the world to allow adults to see the movies that they wish to see? I know plenty of people who are craving to see this on the big screen, so Sony Pictures Australia, I beg you to reconsider your decision. Please show your support by signing this petition and passing it on to everyone you know in order for Australia to not be robbed of a great theatrical experience.
