I absolutely DETEST Bollywood remixes. Who doesn't?
A few days ago, I was watching the trailer for 'Roohi', when I noticed that an apparently recreated version of my favourite song of all-time, Let The Music Play (by Shamur), was playing in the background.
The only thing that calmed me down that day was the thought that maybe, just maybe, this monstrosity of a recreation was just for the trailer and that the music composers weren't so devoid of imagination as to take a nostalgic song, roll it up into a crude ball, play gully cricket with it and hit it into the ghar ke paas wala nala.
And then 'Nadiyon Paar' was released on YouTube by Sony Music India.
It's still not too late. Together, we can force Sony Music India to remove the song from YouTube (if not the movie). We need to let Bollywood know that the audience will not tolerate irresponsible remixes to compensate for the evident lack of creativity. This ban would send across a clear signal to the Bollywood music industry that the tolerance capacity has been reached. No one wants to listen to heavily autotuned party mixes anymore. Hopefully, this ban would herald a new era of change for Bollywood and music composers would start producing better music, not just siphoning an undeserved share off from previous successes.
