My name is Miguel or Thumb Advance. Recently, I have discovered some unfortunate news that not only affects the PlayStation players, but it affects all of the gaming community. What I discovered is Sony refused Microsoft's offer to unify Minecraft PS4. Basically, Sony refused cross platform play for Minecraft. Fortunately, there is some reasons that Sony should allow Microsoft to cross play Minecraft.
First and foremost, If Sony allows Microsoft to cross play Minecraft, then Sony would get a ton of money and live up to their slogan "4 The Players". Secondly, the PlayStation 4 is designed in mind to share. If Sony keeps declining Microsoft's cross play invitation, then the whole mindset of sharing on the PlayStation 4 would be defeated. This is not the only time Sony refused cross play. For example, Psyonix need Sony's approval to cross play Rocket League PS4 with Xbox One. However, Sony refused which defeats the PS4's design of sharing.
In addition, this is not the first time different platforms are connected to each other. For example, different kinds of phones including iPhone, Android, and flip phones have been connected for years despite being different devices and having different phone networks. The future for all devices to be connected is already here on phones, even when phones were first invented. Not only different phones connect to each other, but different computers connect to each other for years. Computers with different operating systems were still able to connect to each other. For example, a person is playing Minecraft on their PC with their buddy, even though that buddy has a Mac or Linux.
As of June 13th 2017, according to Jim Ryan's interview with Eurogamer, "Yeah. We've got to be mindful of our responsibility to our install base. Minecraft - the demographic playing that, you know as well as I do, it's all ages but it's also very young. We have a contract with the people who go online with us, that we look after them and they are within the PlayStation curated universe. Exposing what in many cases are children to external influences we have no ability to manage or look after, it's something we have to think about very carefully."
Long story short, the reason why Sony decline Microsoft's cross play invitation because Sony doesn't want their younger audience to be exposed to "external influences". Long story short, Sony is trying to be the parent of the children. However, the actual parent should take responsibility of their child. That's the purpose of parenting. According to Mojang, "Plus we've made sure that parental controls and other safety features will be in place, so you decide what your child can access." Long story short the only person that should parent the child is the parent a and that is the point of parenting.
On the other hand, there's hope for Minecraft PlayStation 4 to cross play. According to Jim Ryan's interview with Eurogamer, "I don't think anything is ever a done deal. Anybody who is dogmatic in that manner is typically a fool. That said, to my knowledge, there is no live conversation ongoing at the moment." In a nutshell, Minecraft PS4 being unified is still a possibility. That's why we need to group together, share this petition, and change Sony's mind.
Sony's acceptance would not only connect different console players to each other, but this would promote the real idea of teamwork. This would inspire society even kids to connect, to share, to put their differences aside, and work together as one group made up of multiple groups. As of a result, the video game industry is changing everyday with new standards and new generations of players. Sony, please accept Microsoft's invitation to cross play for not only the money, but for the players.
