Please add shoulders to Arnold Drive to improve bike and pedestrian safety.

The addition of 3' shoulders to the 1.1 mile stretch of Arnold Drive between Country Club and Sobre Vista is urgently needed to improve safety and traffic flow for bicyclists, motorists and pedestrians. This stretch currently has no shoulders, which puts cyclists and pedestrians at great risk. The lack of shoulders forces bicyclists to ride in the road causing cars to either cross the double line into on coming traffic or violate the 3' minimum distance law between car and bike.
Arnold Drive is used by thousands of bicyclists every year. It is the least dangerous North/South alternative between Sonoma and Glen Ellen.
The addition of shoulders would not require any trees to be cut or require full 5' bike lanes.
This project would be substantially less expensive than the proposed 3.5 mile 5' bike lanes proposed in the county bike plan.
Don't wait for a tragedy to occur. Please sign this petition to get Sonoma County and its Board of Supervisors to add shoulders to this stretch of Arnold Drive, help save lives and improve traffic flow. Thank you!
