Install a pedestrian crossing on the A3259 at Monkton Heathfield

This petition made change with 389 supporters!

The A3259 is extremely busy and dangerous, vehicles drive too fast and don't stop to allow pedestrians to cross. This is a direct route to primary and secondary school for many children who live in Mead Way, Broadly Gardens, Park Mead, Greenway and West Monkton. There is no crossing in place in either direction for over a mile.

Up until 18/11/13 a lollypop person was employed by Heathfield School to help pedestrians cross the road for half an hour in the morning and afternoon. This post has been advertised but not yet filled.

The local council has failed to recognise the dangers this poses. As residents and council tax payers we have the right to be able to cross the road safely and allow our children to cross the road independently to walk to school.

Without a pedestrian crossing it is only a matter of time before someone is killed on the A3259. Please support our campaign.
