Implement the 'Garden of Forgiveness' project in Downtown Beirut

In 1998, Solidere chose a winning design for the Garden of Forgiveness project. The Garden of Forgiveness is 20,000sqm area that lies next to Martyr Square (behind the Rafiq Hariri Mosoleum). The importance of the garden lies in its location between several religious buildings, symbolizing sectarian coexistence, and next to the green line that once separated East and West Beirut. The garden contains archeological ruins from 15 different civilizations.
The concept of the Garden of Forgiveness is that it's a place for people to meditate, have a personal introspection and it's a place that promotes "sentiments of joy, peace, and healing" after the war.
Unfortunately, the project has been and is still on hold. The aim of this petition is to gather signatures to thus show Solidere that we, the people, yearn to have such a public space with a symbolic connotation. We hope that your signatures will lead to the implementation of the project.
