There is speculation as to whether social services get bonuses for every child they remove from families..More and more children are being removed for not good enough reasons and people are questioning as to why. A social workers job is infact to help families and help keep them together but why isn’t this happening and why is nothing being done about it? Women who are victims of domestic abuse are being penalised and made to feel like they’ve done something wrong and are losing their kids due to the perpetrators actions. Mothers who are being told by social services they are good mothers but because of the “possible”threat of harm from their ex partners their kids are removed. Parents especially single mothers are not being treated fairly. Change needs to happen. Social services should infact get paid less for every child they remove as they haven’t effectively done their job in keeping families together. Now we need to stand together and change the reasons and concerns social services use to take parents to court and putting children on protection plans with little evidence or no evidence. Not use mental health against parents if infact they are getting help. Social services cannot predict the future so shouldn’t be able to remove children with “ifs”, “but” and “maybes”. If no harm has come to a child no signs of neglect by any other professionals social should stand down. If false accusations cannot be proved then parents should be treated as innocent until proven otherwise. Not automatically guilty until the parents prove otherwise.
