Currently a private entity associated with pickle ball  have been approved to design a plan and present to the city of Fort Lauderdale how they want to build a restaurant and over 30 pickle ball courts at Snyder park. This would mean moving or doing away with the seaweed dump, which the city has a special permit for and is the only city in the state that collects the seaweed for compost to make soil. Snyder park is enjoyed for its beautiful natural essence and peaceful seclusion. I believe that this pickle ball project will destroy/disrupt those aspects of Snyder park which is home to a wide range of wildlife that would be very affected by such a project including gopher tortoises which are protected and a keystone species here in Florida.
