Say NO to Snow Valley Gravel Pit

Say NO to Snow Valley Gravel Pit
Why this petition matters

Galibier Materials Inc. (Lewis Pit expansion), is trying to expand their gravel pit and destroy 21.10 additional hectares. This not only means, the noise will increase, the dangerous dump truck traffic will increase, the forested area that is home to all kinds of wild life and nature will also be wiped out and mined. The most dangerous of all will be the potential health risk and pollutions that will be coming into our homes potentially settling in our lungs.
This proposed expansion will be just 30 metres from one of our neighbourhood streets -Boothby Crescent. Snow Valley is our neighbourhood where our children play, where we walk, the place we take our kids for a fun day at the park. This is where we call home. It’s our safe space, our serenity and security.
The picture attached to this Petition is of what some residents are currently dealing with, this is the result of just a couple days!!! With the expansion, a simple breeze, and these pollutants and silt are going to be carried to your yards, air conditioning units, your plants and grasses will have layers of it, your pools will have sandy bottoms, your cars will be forever dirty, your windows and homes will be covered. It will enter our homes and it will be in our air that our families will be breathing.
Two, our outdoor enjoyment will be compromised. We won’t want or be able to enjoy our patios, decks, yards, pools and parks. They will be blanketed with Silt! Our high property taxes we currently pay every year, one would never expect this to even be an issue. The fact that we have to fight in order to enjoy our lifestyles we worked so hard to obtain is frustrating to say the least.
So please, sign this petition, let’s be heard and let’s try to put a stop to this pit expansion in our beautiful community. And please don’t forget, you can also send an opposition letter to the Applicant D Kennedy 151 Whitehall Dr . Markham, ON L3R 9T1 along with a copy emailed to ARAapprovals@ontario.ca. Deadline is December 30th 2022.
