The population density for this annexation and development will be equivalent to Issaquah Highlands.
Some property owners in the annexation area don't want to move, this annexation and development will make it difficult for them to enjoy their property. Their property taxes will increase if their property is rezoned and roads will cut through some of the properties of those who prefer to stay. This annexation, rezoning and development is an intrusion on their lives. These property owners should not be coerced into leaving their homes, and some of these property owners have lived in their homes longer than most residents in Snoqualmie.
Property adjacent to the development will be significantly impacted by traffic and noise.
Roads to service the development are not sufficient:
- Snoqualmie Parkway at I-90 is a gridlock during peak commute hours, three of the proposed roads to service the development will go onto Snoqualmie Parkway and aggravate the congestion at Snoqualmie Parkway and I-90.
- The two other proposed roads for the development will use the path of: 378th Ave. SE, to SE 88th St., to SE 92nd St., to 384th Ave. SE. These rural roads are very narrow with no dividing line and will need to be improved and widened. To widen these roads will impact all of the properties along these roads.
There are indications that the city lacks the water, wastewater and stormwater capacity for more development.
There is no requirement by the Growth Management Act to add this development to our community. This development will not provide affordable housing or assisted living.
Please vote NO to annex Snoqualmie Hills West.
