We the middle schoolers of Liberty Middle school should be aloud to have phones during lunch. Only 2 of the staff truly care about the phone rule. We the students believe that this rule should be abolished because lunch is not a class and should not have phone restrictions. 

If the phones are use in a inappropriate manner like pornography the phone may be taken and a email to the parents. Most often the students are playing games, listening to music, or even online shopping. We understand that the staff would like the students to interact with one another and eat lunch. Although social interaction is important there are 8 hours of school and many students get that in between classes or during class free time. 

Some students have social anxiety and having their phone and listening to music may be a coping mechanism to clam themselves. Friends fight and may be ignoring each other and creating an extremely awkward environment for the of students. Another reason is if a student is drawing and needs a reference picture. Therefore the students of liberty middle should be aloud to do school appropriate things on their phones during lunch.
