Equalize the Content on the Snap Chat Discover Page to Represent All Views

I have been an avid snap chat user for a few years now, and it’s been a very user friendly app to communicate with friends and family. I’ve noticed though, repeatedly, that the Discover feature on Snap Chat has very slanted views. There is very obvious bias included in these publisher’s stories that is geared more towards the liberal mind rather than the conservative stance. It’s giving younger generations this idea that there is only one way of thinking about world problems, and that this view is the popular view and the only way they should view social issues. Most of the time, it’s not even real news!  Just incredibly biased opinions. Some of these more liberal-minded companies include BuzzFeed, E-News the Rundown, Now This, Essence, Mitú, Brother, Stay Tuned, Self, The New York Times, Refinery29, The Washington Post, CNN, NBC etc.

There have been cartoons of Donald Trump posted on the Discover page mocking him and making fun of him with silly music playing to make him appear stupid, there has been propaganda promoting “the dreamers” of DACA, there have been passive aggressive comments degrading men in articles that have nothing to do with men. There are stories promoting 21st century feminism, there are stories promoting the “inspiring” speeches made by Hollywood celebrities that are directed at our President and praised by these liberal publishers and stories that promote the Black Lives Matter movement. It’s almost like Snap Chat is spoon feeding the youth with what they should believe and listen to without equal representation from both sides of the political spectrum. I can’t tell you how many featured Discover stories I’ve come across that intentionally disrespect my beliefs and make a mockery of what I stand for. What about the rest of us Snap Chat users that have no representation or platform for our own beliefs? Beliefs such as right to bear arms, that not all white straight males are horrible people, that white people are not the end-all be-all for all racism, that our President deserves respect whether you like him or not. That yes, men and women should be treated as equals, but we don’t need to tear down men to build women up. I do not consider myself Republican nor Democratic, I feel as though I lie somewhere in the middle. But regardless, the Snap Chat featured stories and articles on Discover lean incredibly left.

There have been stories praising the Women’s March in D.C. and around the globe for the past two years and also the NEGATIVE reactions of people when Donald Trump became the 45th President of the United States. Every viewpoint that doesn’t correlate with the views of majority of these liberal publishers is made a mockery of and it has got to stop. We need to be teaching our youth that tolerance and acceptance does not only apply to race, gender, ethnicity, religion, etc.

It applies to beliefs too.

What I want to see changed is this:

- Equal representation on the Discover page for liberal views AND conservative views AND libertarian views, meaning just as many conservative and libertarian stories and articles as there are liberal ones

- No ill-intentioned cartoons of our President Donald Trump

- Articles and stories that share a multitude of beliefs while ALSO demonstrating respect for opposing views

- Articles from conservative/libertarian companies and/or persons such as Sean Hannity, The Blaze, Fox News, Drudge Report, Michelle Malkin, National Review, The Weekly Standard, Town Hall, Project Vote Smart, Political Base, etc
