Moving of our mums memorial tree

Our mum Michelle Parnell died in December 2016. Our mum was able to make her last wishes quite clear. It was her choice to be cremated and her remains be buried along with a cherry tree in snailwell church. It was her wish for her ashes to grow as part of the cherry tree.

At the time of her burial we had permission by the reverend to go ahead with these plans. So on Mother's Day this year our mum was put to rest in snailwell church yard beneath a cherry tree.

It has now been brought to our attention by the warden that the tree must be moved to a different spot by the wall in the church yard and leave our mums ashes where they are.

The whole event was very painful as it was for us as a family. Now to be asked to move the tree away from mum which were not her wishes is just bringing it all up again. Mum wanted to be part of the tree.

Another option is to dig up both mum and the tree to move her this is not something we are prepared to do. We want to keep her settled where she currently is. We should not have to be forced to go through with this.

The reason for moving the tree is just incase the church needs repair work the tree would be in a bad position for scaffolding to be put in place. Im sure this is something that can be dealt with at a time if this is ever needed. Also the tree is not very big and does not grow big enough to be a problem.

We are asking people to sign this petition to help us keep our mum where she is. Your support might be in vain but it is worth a shot to show the council some evidence of our support. It is much appreciated.

Thank you for your time
