No School for SMSD Students on November 1st, 2017, the Day after Halloween

This petition had 319 supporters

The students of Shawnee Mission School District request that we do not have school the day following Halloween. The reasoning behind this is that the next morning, we will not be as productive during the school day, due to us staying up later than normal, which isn't fun for us to have to wake up so early, or for the teachers to have to deal with us and all the candy wrappers that will be left on the ground.

And I know as an adult, you're probably thinking, well then just don't stay up late, but on Halloween, that doesn't work well with most kids. You're usually up late, due to handing out candy to little kids, or having fun with your own friends, it's one of the only days of the year we get candy and actually have fun, only once a year this day comes around, and eventually we get too old to dress up, and have candy hangovers, so we have to try to cherish it as long as we can. Older people always say, enjoy your childhood, and I, Emma Brown, stand by what they say, and hope you do too.

And this, is why we shouldn't have school the day after Halloween, November 1st, 2017. Thank you for your time and consideration. We hope you will agree with us, but if you do not, your opinion is respected.
